At Saint Catherine’s we are doing everything we can to keep our patients, families, staff , volunteers and supporters safe at this difficult time.
Our key clinical services are still running, which means that patients are still being cared for in the hospice and at home.
However, in line with Government guidance and with safety paramount, we have taken the decision to reduce some face-to-face services and restrict visitors on site.
Every decision being made is in the best interests of our patients, families, volunteers and staff.
We need your continued support and help more than ever as we continue to pay and support all our members of staff – we appreciate every donation, every message and every offer of support.

Bring a Pound to Work Day 2021 in aid of Saint Catherine’s – sign up now for July event

April 15th 2021

Saint Catherine’s is delighted that Bring a Pound to Work Day 2021 will be taking place in partnership with This is the Coast.

The charity and radio station will join forces to hold the event on Tuesday July 6, 2021, supported by Scarborough Business Ambassadors – a group comprising leading figures in business and local government and representatives across a variety of sectors.

The event was originally planned for March, but has been moved to the new date in line with government guidance and the COVID ‘roadmap’.

The idea of Bring a Pound to Work Day is as simple as it sounds – businesses across the local area encourage their teams to ‘bring a pound to work’ and all the proceeds go towards helping Saint Catherine’s look after patients and their families, both in the hospice and at home.

Tracy Calcraft, Income and Business Services Director at Saint Catherine’s, said: “We are really looking forward to Bring a Pound to Work Day 2021 and thrilled to be working with This is the Coast and also to be supported by Scarborough Business Ambassadors.

“We would like to thank them for their support. Every pound counts and it all makes such a difference to patients and families in our local community.”

Matthew Pells, This is the Coast Managing Director, said: “Saint Catherine’s is such a vital organisation for the Yorkshire Coast, we feel it’s really important to do everything we can to enable everyone on the coast to take part in this great day of fundraising and to show how much they value the work Saint Catherine’s does.

“We’ll be turning the entire day’s radio output over to covering the fundraising efforts, talking to the people who are generously supporting Saint Catherine’s and hearing from some of those true local heroes who keep the services running.

“It’s brilliant that Scarborough Business Ambassadors are supporting the day, they are going to bring loads of experience, enthusiasm and capability to what promises to be a great demonstration of community spirit on the coast.”

Susan Richings, a director at Scarborough Business Ambassadors, said: “We are delighted that the Ambassadors as a group is joining with the Saint Catherine’s team to help support this major fundraising mission. Every pound will help to maintain the fantastic, tremendous free work of the hospice for the benefit of Scarborough patients, their families and carers.

“We urge everyone and the business community in particular to take part, making contributions or donations – particularly during the current situation when COVID-19 is adding to the funding challenges. For our part, we will visit businesses and organisations (safety guidelines permitting), supporting hospice and radio staff to collect your contribution to help our wonderful Saint Catherine’s continue its hugely valued services that mean so much for so many people at the most difficult times of their lives.”  Details about Bring a Pound to Work Day 2021 and how you can sign up can be found at www.thisisthecoast.co.uk/features/bring-a-pound-to-work-day-2021/
