Driffield Support Group Provides Double Comfort By Funding Two More Cuddle Beds for Saint Catherine’s

Thanks to the incredible dedication and generosity of Saint Catherine’s Driffield Support Group and their supporters, even more families will now be able to benefit from that comfort and closeness.

The group has raised an outstanding £31,000 to fund two additional cuddle beds for Saint Catherine’s, bringing the total number of cuddle beds funded by the group to four.

The achievement is the result of months of fundraising, community events and support from local businesses and individuals across Driffield and the surrounding area. Their efforts have already transformed the experiences of many patients and families, and this latest donation will allow that impact to reach even further.

Cuddle beds play an important role in hospice care. Unlike a standard hospital bed, they can expand to create enough space for a loved one to lie alongside a patient safely and comfortably. Whether it’s sharing memories, holding hands, listening to music together or simply being close, the beds help create moments of comfort, connection and reassurance when they matter most.

On 4 June 2026, the latest two cuddle beds were delivered to Saint Catherine’s by Chris from Montcalm International. The specialist beds, supplied by healthcare furniture provider are officially called The Ook Snow ALL bed but have since become known as “The Cuddle Bed” because of their ability to widen into a double bed at the touch of a button. This simple but powerful feature allows patients to spend precious time close to loved ones, bringing comfort, connection and reassurance during some of life’s most difficult moments. Their arrival marked another milestone in the Driffield Support Group’s fundraising journey, bringing the total number of beds funded by the group to four and enabling even more families to benefit from the comfort and closeness they provide.

This donation also highlights the remarkable generosity of the Driffield community in supporting their fundraising initiatives. The support group has built a strong reputation for its commitment to supporting hospice care through the funding of cuddle beds, which are such an important part of end-of-life care.”

Members of the Driffield Support Group, Lyn Morris and Gill Ullyott, thanked the many people who have supported their fundraising efforts.

“We have fun in fundraising, but we cannot do that without our fantastic supporters,” they said. “They are the ones that provide the beds, so again it is a big thank you to all of them.”

The success of the appeal demonstrates the extraordinary difference a community can make when it comes together behind a shared cause. Every event attended, raffle ticket purchased, donation made and volunteer hour given has helped bring comfort to local families when they need it most.

Wider than a standard hospital bed and able to expand, they allow loved ones to share comfort, warmth and precious moments together — whether that’s a partner, family member, close friend or even a beloved pet.

They create space for connection, companionship and reassurance; for quiet conversations, shared memories and simply being present with one another.

Thanks to the generosity of the Driffield community, four cuddle beds have now been funded for patients and families at Saint Catherine’s, helping make precious moments together possible.
