Person-Centred Palliative Care Training
Course Overview
This 2-day comprehensive training is designed for non-registered health and social care workers who support
patients with life limiting conditions. The course focuses on a person-centred compassionate approach to end-of-life care.
Topics Covered
- Understanding Palliative Care Principles, Communication and Holistic Person-Centred Approaches.
- Recognising Signs & Symptoms of End-of-life: Physical, Emotional, Psychological and Spiritual Indicators.
- Care in the Last Days of Life: Symptom Management, Comfort Measures, Supporting Families, and Teamwork.
- Dignified Care After Death, Cultural Considerations, and Supporting Bereaved Families.
- Reflective Practice & Self-Care for Staff.

Advanced Communications Skills Training
Overview
This advanced-level, interactive training supports clinical staff in patient-facing roles (Band 6 or above) to develop and adapt their communication practice, ensuring it has a lasting and meaningful impact in professional settings.
Session Includes
- Discuss challenges such as breaking bad news, advanced care planning, handling anger or distress, and navigating
difficult conversations with colleagues. - Practise key communication skills and principles, receive constructive feedback, and explore alternative approaches in
a safe, supportive environment. - Take away practical communication strategies that can be transferred to any interpersonal or professional context.
