Sunflower Memories Appeal 2022

17th March 2022 - 12:00 am

As we move from Spring to Summer, we are delighted to be launching our Sunflower Memories Appeal once more. It takes a community to make a hospice and with your support, we can continue to be there for patients and their families when they need us the most – together we are Saint Catherine’s.

To run all of our services it costs around £5 million a year, with only a third of our funding available from the NHS. We rely on the generosity of the community and our dedicated supporters to ensure we can raise the remainder – around £8,000 a day – and continue to provide our much-needed care.

We would be really grateful if you choose to support this year’s Sunflower Appeal. Kindly donate through our Just Giving page linked below or call our fundraising department on 01723 378406 and any donation you can give will go directly towards patient care.

You can also help in the following ways:

  • By holding an event in the months of April or May to raise funds, for example a coffee morning, bake sale or a sunflower-themed ‘wear yellow’ day at work. We can offer ideas, help and support – just call (01723) 378406 or email fundraising@saintcatherines.org.uk
  • By buying a Sunflower Appeal pin badge from our online shop at www.saintcatherines.org.uk/online-shop/

During this time, we will create displays of sunflowers in our shops in memory of loved ones and in recognition of your continued support, which we will show to you all throughout the appeal.

On behalf of all of us here at Saint Catherine’s, thank you so much for your support – it is truly appreciated 💜

This is Mark and Robina’s story:

Hello

I’m Mark and my wife Robina was cared for by the team at Saint Catherine’s before she passed away in January this year.

Robina had been battling lung cancer and spent time at the hospice last summer for pain management. She celebrated her birthday in July at Saint Catherine’s, with a cake baked by a member of staff, and I was able to be with her every day for four weeks.

The care Robina received was just amazing. Witnessing first-hand the care and comfort Saint Catherine’s provides, from the nurses to the cleaners and catering staff, it will live with me forever. I can’t think of a better cause.

I wanted to give something back to say thank you for the incredible care given to Robina, so last year I set about fundraising with the support of family, friends and colleagues.

You can help Saint Catherine’s too by taking part in this year’s Sunflower Memories Appeal. All the proceeds go towards patient care and you can help ensure other families receive outstanding care, all free of charge, like we did.

Thank you so much for your support

Mark
