Meet the Wellbeing Centre Department
Tell us what a typical day looks like in your team?
The Wellbeing Centre is run by the Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT), MDT includes Doctors, Nurses, Occupational Therapist, Physiotherapists, Social Workers, Spiritual Care and Complementary Therapist.A typical day would start with MDT handover at 09.20am before patients arrive at 10am. Patients are given a warm and friendly welcome and a cuppa! Patients are then assessed for their individual needs and signposted to members of MDT throughout the day. Patients can take part in craft sessions and have their hair done by volunteer hairdressers.Lunch is served by staff and we eat all together. In the afternoon there is various entertainment provided by volunteers or staff (sleeping is allowed but not for staff!) Entertainment can include singers, poetry, quiz and bingo. Following entertainment we have afternoon tea and cake before transport home arrives at 3pm.
What makes your department special in terms of patient care?
The Wellbeing Centre is special as it is a happy place, and patient individual needs are tailored for. Laughter and light hearted fun is part of the treatment plan.
