Mum and son, 7, join forces to raise hospice funds

A mum and son are gearing up to run and cycle 13 miles together to raise money for patient care at Saint Catherine’s.

On September 12, Nerys Nichols will be running and her seven-year-old son Joshua will be cycling a half marathon from Howden to Newport and back.

They are doing this to say thank you for the care received by Nerys’s mother-in-law Elaine, who was looked after by Saint Catherine’s during the last days of her fight with cancer.

Nerys said: “I can speak for my husband and all his family when I say that we will never forget the care and compassion you showed for Elaine. Although she was only there for a few days, your kindness for Elaine and to all of us who stayed with her until the end was incredible, so thank you all so much.”

Nerys added: “I’m glad to be able to challenge myself and give something substantial back. It’s been a personal goal of mine for a while and now seems to be the right time.”
