Family take on Ben Nevis

Well Done Team!

Well done to Amanda and her family (and Derek the dog) who climbed Ben Nevis in memory of her mum who passed away last year. Amanda promised her mum before she passed away that she would climb Ben Nevis to raise funds for patient care at Saint Catherine’s.

Amanda said ‘‘Mum was in Saint Catherine’s for five weeks and during that time I saw first-hand the work all the staff put in. It was one place we, as a family could relax knowing mum was in great care.

It was a great shame she didn't 'leave us' from the hospice but came home for a few days before being admitted to the hospital after her health took a turn. Even after mum 'left' the hospice didn't stop caring. Dad and I were both offered carers support. I came to one of the meetings but it was too much too soon, so John Gready, Social Worker, and myself sat and had a coffee instead and just talked about mum.’’

Amanda said they are already making plans for another challenge next year… now the pain has worn off!

Thank you very much to Amanda and her family, thanks to you, and our other supporters we can continue to provide care and support to families like Amanda's in your local community.
