At Saint Catherine’s we are doing everything we can to keep our patients, families, staff , volunteers and supporters safe at this difficult time.
Our key clinical services are still running, which means that patients are still being cared for in the hospice and at home.
However, in line with Government guidance and with safety paramount, we have taken the decision to reduce some face-to-face services and restrict visitors on site. Also, our hospice shops will be closed for the time being and we have postponed all of our fundraising events that were planned during the next few months.
Every decision being made is in the best interests of our patients, families, volunteers and staff.
We need your continued support and help more than ever as we continue to pay and support all our members of staff – we appreciate every donation, every message and every offer of support.

Saint Catherine’s secures Great North Run places for rescheduled event in 2021

June 17th 2020

Saint Catherine’s will roll over all its Great North Run places to 2021, following the cancellation of this year’s event.

The Great North Run, one of the biggest fundraising events of the year, was due to take place on Sunday 13 September. It has now been rescheduled to Sunday September 12, 2021.

The event helps raise thousands of pounds each year for Saint Catherine’s – and in total raises £25 million for charity.

Any participants who have a charity place in aid of Saint Catherine’s will be contacted, by either telephone or email, by a member of the hospice’s fundraising team to explain what happens next.

Susan Stephenson, communications and marketing manager, said: “We know that our supporters have been training hard and really looking forward to the Great North Run.

“However, the safety and wellbeing of everyone must come first and we hope that our runners will be able to take part in 2021 and continue their valued fundraising for Saint Catherine’s.”

Anyone with any questions about their place in the meantime is asked to email
