Advanced Communications Skills Training Course

Course Details

This 2-day interactive workshop is aimed at senior clinicians who are communicating with patients with advanced progressive illness in challenging or complex situations.

The course is designed to provide a supportive environment to practice and develop communication techniques.  It runs over two consecutive days with a maximum of 10 attendees and is run by facilitators who are experienced health care professionals.

The course uses interactive role play to help attendees develop effective communication skills in a safe and supportive environment. Role plays are based on challenging situations that individual attendees have encountered in practice. Participants will provide each other with constructive feedback. A willingness to use experiential methods of learning during the 2 days is an expectation of the programme.

Please note that attendance at all sessions over the two days is seen as essential.

The programme has been shown to have a beneficial effect in changing the communication behaviour of professionals with a significant increase in confidence levels for key communication tasks measured pre and post course.

Lunch and light refreshments will be provided.
