At Saint Catherine’s we are doing everything we can to keep our patients, families, staff , volunteers and supporters safe at this difficult time.
Our key clinical services are still running, which means that patients are still being cared for in the hospice and at home.
However, in line with Government guidance and with safety paramount, we have taken the decision to reduce some face-to-face services and restrict visitors on site.
Every decision being made is in the best interests of our patients, families, volunteers and staff.
We need your continued support and help more than ever as we continue to pay and support all our members of staff – we appreciate every donation, every message and every offer of support.

Shops

SHOPS UPDATE 15/09/2020

Saint Catherine’s are delighted to share the news that all 11 of our shops are now back open.

The shops are open from Wednesday to Saturday, 10.30am to 3.30pm (closing for 45 minutes at lunchtime), and will be able to accept donated goods during opening hours. Donated items will be quarantined for 72 hours before being available for sale.

The shops have undergone changes and rigorous checks to ensure they are ‘COVID safe’ and comply with Government guidance, with social distancing measures in place and PPE provided for staff and volunteers.

RETAIL COLLECTIONS UPDATE 25/08/2020

Do you have any furniture that you would like to donate to Saint Catherine’s for sale in our charity shops?

We are pleased to announce that our furniture collection service is up and running again with some changes to our system to ensure we follow the government COVID-19 requirements. We will no longer be able to take your booking for collection within our shops.

If you have an item (or items) to donate, please email retailcollections@saintcatherines.org.uk and include the following:
-Your name, telephone number and address.
-A description of the item.
-A clear, good quality photo/photos of the item.

Please note: items must be in a saleable condition. If there is slight damage, please let us know in the email and on the photographs.

Upholstered furniture must have a fire safety label attached.

We will not be able to accept all items for sale – if this is the case, our team will let you know. Our van drivers will use their discretion on arrival. Thank you in advance for your understanding.

Thank you for supporting Saint Catherine’s in this way – your help is very much appreciated and will help us to continue providing outstanding care for patients and their loved ones, now and in the future.

We have eleven shops across North and East Yorkshire specialising in good quality second-hand clothing and furniture. Our shops sell a wide range of items, ranging from designer clothing, to real gold and silver jewellery, books, homeware and furniture.

Our charity shops are our biggest individual source of income after the part funding we get from the NHS. Last year our shops collectively raised around £1.1 million for patient care at Saint Catherine’s.

Currently we are serving around 200,000 customers a year across our 11 shops, but we would love to make that number even bigger so that we can continue to provide outstanding care to patients and their loved ones in our area who are living with a terminal illness.

We sell approximately 300,000 items a year – which may well have gone to landfill if people hadn’t donated it to our shops. So when you shop with Saint Catherine’s you are not only supporting patient care, you are also helping to make a greener world for us all to live in.

Wherever possible we would also encourage supporters to Gift Aid their donation. As long as you are a taxpayer it is of no extra cost to you, but the government will donate an extra 25p for every pound which can make a huge difference to the money we raise.

In the past year we raised an incredible £55,000 through Gift Aid, which shows the difference it can make.  If you are unsure about Gift Aid please feel free to ask about it when you donate or shop.
