***SHOPS UPDATE*** – 05/01/2021
In line with government guidance all Saint Catherine’s charity shops will be closed from Tuesday 5th January until further notice.
While the shops are closed, unfortunately we cannot accept any donated goods for sale.
We also kindly ask that goods are not left outside the shops or in the doorways, as we cannot collect, sort or store them at this time.
We also cannot reserve any items that are on display but they can of course be purchased as soon as we are able to re-open.
You can shop with Saint Catherine’s online at www.saintcatherines.org.uk/online-shop
We also have an eBay store which you can browse and shop at here: https://charity.ebay.co.uk/charity/SAINT-CATHERINE’S-HOSPICE-TRUST/3148990
Thank you for your understanding and support during this time. We hope to welcome you back into our shops soon.
Saint Catherine’s retail team
We have eleven shops across North and East Yorkshire specialising in good quality second-hand clothing and furniture. Our shops sell a wide range of items, ranging from designer clothing, to real gold and silver jewellery, books, homeware and furniture.
All 11 of our shops are open Wednesday – Saturday 10.30am – 3.30pm, closing for 45 minutes to clean at lunchtime and will be able to accept donated goods during opening hours. All shops have undergone changes and rigorous checks to ensure they are ‘COVID safe’ and comply with government guidance, with social distancing measures in place and PPE provided for staff and volunteers.
Our charity shops are our biggest individual source of income after the part funding we get from the NHS. Last year our shops collectively raised around £1.1 million for patient care at Saint Catherine’s.
Currently we are serving around 200,000 customers a year across our 11 shops, but we would love to make that number even bigger so that we can continue to provide outstanding care to patients and their loved ones in our area who are living with a terminal illness.
We sell approximately 300,000 items a year – which may well have gone to landfill if people hadn’t donated it to our shops. So when you shop with Saint Catherine’s you are not only supporting patient care, you are also helping to make a greener world for us all to live in.
Wherever possible we would also encourage supporters to Gift Aid their donation. As long as you are a taxpayer it is of no extra cost to you, but the government will donate an extra 25p for every pound which can make a huge difference to the money we raise.
In the past year we raised an incredible £55,000 through Gift Aid, which shows the difference it can make. If you are unsure about Gift Aid please feel free to ask about it when you donate or shop.
Unfortunately, following the latest government announcement, our shops will remain closed. This means we will not be able to operate our retail collection service until further notice.
We will keep all our supporters and customers up to date with the shops situation as it changes by posting information at www.saintcatherines.org.uk/how-you-can-help-us/shops/ and on Facebook @saintcatherineshospice
Thank you for your patience and understanding during this time.
