About Our Mobile Pods
At Saint Catherine’s, hospice care goes far beyond our walls, and sometimes, it’s on wheels! Our mobile pods help us reach people where they are, bringing care, compassion, and connection directly into local communities. These unique vehicles enable us to deliver clinical services, information, and support to people across the community, ensuring that hospice care is accessible, flexible, and personal for everyone.
The Clinical Pod
Our Clinical Pod is a fully equipped mobile healthcare unit designed to bring medical services closer to home. It supports our Hospice Without Walls vision — making it easier for people to access care without the need to travel long distances.
The Clinical Pod is used for:
- Lymphoedema Clinics in Bridlington, Malton, Whitby, and soon York
- Community healthcare for patients unable to reach our main site
- Hiring Facilities, like Eastfield Medical Centre who have hired this for GP Appointment Services

The Fundraising Pod
Despite its name, the Fundraising Pod does much more than fundraising! This bright, welcoming vehicle acts as an information and service delivery hub, helping us raise awareness of Saint Catherine’s clinical services and support people living in more remote areas. The Fundraising Pod often serves as a meeting point, rest stop, or information centre, helping residents learn more about the care we provide, from counselling and therapy to nursing and family support.
The Fundraising Pod provides a space for:
-
- Community engagement – pop-up information sessions, donation stations, and awareness days
- Wellness groups and activities – including drop-in chats, support sessions, and social opportunities
- Outreach support – connecting residents in rural communities with Saint Catherine’s services
